Purgatory to Ruby: Pigeon, Turret and the Animas Group

The Animas River at the junction of the Purgatory Trail and the Animas River Trail. Gordie Lachance, Chris Chambers, Teddy Duchamp and Vern Tessio would have surely appreciated a short jaunt along these tracks.

San Juan Summertime and the Livin’s Easy

Ben and I have been on a bit of a tear this summer. Blitzkrieg is a word often used to describe a few of our trips and while they have been nothing but excellent, it makes you appreciate a trip in which you are afforded the ability to get to your destination early, snag 1st dibs on a campsite, and enjoy perfect weather all weekend. “Stress-free” was thrown around a lot this past weekend and we savored every minute of it.

For those of you who don’t know me, my name is Dillon. I grew up in New Jersey and moved to Colorado at the end of 2010. I like chicken, diet soda, beer, and greek yogurt. I’m an accountant, but still think taxes are evil. I didn’t find my mountain wife on top of one of these 14er’s, but am still holding out hope. AND I really hate my snowshoes. That’s probably all of the pertinent information you need on me.

I figured the best way to give you my perspective into this 14er journey would be to take you all along for the ride. Enjoy!
